A quick hello

Just thought I should pop in and say Hi before May gets here! So far our week is off to a pretty good start. Last week was sort of an exhausting week and I'm glad it's over! Nana came over last night and will be staying with us until, well, we're not sure when she's leaving but if we had it our way she'd be here for 2 weeks, as Hannah would say. =) I'm enjoying having someone here with me during the day. Tonight we're going to take the ferry over to Kingston to have dinner with Aunt Kim & Uncle Paul. I'm thinking this will be Emerson's first ferry ride. Sad that I can't remember whether or not it is. Poor second child. Tomorrow, Nana will watch the girls for us while I go into work for a few hours and Hannah is VERY excited about that. We don't have much else planned, kind of boring. Oh wait, Nana just informed me that we've got shopping trips to make so I guess that'll be exciting. =)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. And, hopefully I'll be back with something exciting to say...I wouldn't count on it if I were you. =) Here's a few pictures of my cuties!
Emerson LOVES her cousin Jacob!Tom & Hannah planting Dahlia's.Still swingin' in the baby swing. I guess we can switch it out for a big kid swing, since Emerson HATES swinging. Can you believe that? Wrong, wrong, wrong.Crazy driver on aisle 3Tom cooking. Yes those are flames.

Weekend in pictures...

I thought I would take a few minutes and post a few pictures from our weekend in Spokane & Coeur d' Alene. Despite all things with Grammy Na we had a really nice weekend and it was really nice to have a husband again.

Friday we celebrated Jen's birthday. We TRIED to make her a marble birthday cake but we had some technical difficulties...no boxed marble cake...oh no! =)
We went to Azteca for dinner. I made her pose for this one. I thought the booth made for an interesting head dress. =) Such a good sport.Much to her dismay we had them sing Happy Birthday to her.
Saturday was a busy day. We started out at Hunters first soccer game. It was such a treat for us to actually get to see Hunter in action and not just from Jen's wonderful video clips. He's a pretty good little player.

After the game we headed out to Springdale to look at a puppy. I'm happy to report that the Pohl's are proud new parents to Daisy, the sweetest puppy ever.

This isn't Daisy, this is the puppy Tom would have taken home if I would have said yes.

Emmie loved this puppy, but I think that's because it was sleeping. Hannah actually thought this face would change my mind. Silly girl. Come on...let's go.Sunday was our Easter celebration. Nana cooked two hams and some yummy potatoes. I'll have to remember to dish myself up the potatoes as soon as they're put out - they went f.a.s.t.Aunt Jodie helped Emerson hunt.Hurry...
I'm gonna get it first, Hannah.Grace was a good sport and hunted some eggs.Morgan searching for eggs. I made him pose for this, for the effect. =)Emerson was happy when we let her have some smarties. Jackpot! And this is SWEET, sweet daisy. Look at that face. Awww....
Monday we headed home, but before we went I made the kids get their pictures taken. I think I'll leave the portrait picture taking to the professionals.
I had great intentions of getting a picture of Nana and the little ones, but they had other ideas. =)
Tomorrow is Grammy's funeral and I'm sure it's going to be an exhausting day. I'll leave you with a quote from a card I received yesterday. It's what I'll be thinking tomorrow as we celebrate a beautiful woman and all the wonderful memories I have of her.
Wherever there are happy memories,
there will always be love.

Grammy

Just thought I would pop in and let you all know that Grammy Na passed away on Friday morning. We are still in Spokane and will head home tomorrow morning. We were going to head home Saturday night but my mom insisted that we stay so the girls could have their Easter celebration over here. As sad as we are, we are happy knowing that Grammy and Papa are together once again.

Easter re-cap

I'm back with a quick Easter recap. I really should be packing for our trip over the mountains this evening, but I really need/want to get this done before it's May. =)

Our egg coloring evening wasn't very exciting. Hannah only wanted to dye the eggs and was done in about 3 minutes and Emerson only wanted to eat them. I handed her an egg and a crayon and the egg went straight to her mouth, shell and all. I peeled the egg and she promptly ate it all while eyeing the cups full of dye. I'm certain she would have drank them if she could have gotten to them.
Easter morning we got the girls up around 7:30 and headed downstairs. As soon as Hannah saw the eggs she felt the need to change out of her jammies and into a dress. Apparently, one cannot look for eggs/baskets when not properly dressed in their Easter dress. I made her wear last years dress because I'm a mean mom that way. =)

We had breakfast at my Aunt Joanne's house. Her and my Aunt Mimi (Rosemary) worked hard on preparing a delicious breakfast. Easter breakfast is easily one of the highlights of my year. It's so so yummy. The rain held off long enough for the Easter bunny to hide some eggs outside. Emerson fell asleep right as we were heading out for the hunt, but her daddy woke her up so that she wouldn't miss out on the fun. The silly bunny hid 375 eggs! When we left I think there were still 7 eggs missing...I think.

Emmie likes her Aunt Susie...she lets her eat M&M's for breakfast.Emmie & Cole. I'm thinking they'll be trouble in years to come. The girls minus Hannah. Where is Hannah you ask...scroll down. She's pouting. She did a lot of pouting today. I can't remember why she was pouting this particular time. Happy Hannah hunting...Our very own paparazzo.Hannah found 2, count them 2, Hannah Montana eggs.So...do you know the Easter bunny? Pouting again...she's so dramatic! The hunters.

We left Marysville around 1:30 and headed to Issaquah for an early dinner at Kevin & Judy's. I think Tom was hoping I would drive so that he could get a little nap in but he wasn't so lucky. Instead he talked my ear off about taxes. I just smile and nod, I SO don't understand what he says 95% of the time. It just goes in one ear right out the other. I really do try to understand but it just doesn't click. =) We had a wonderful dinner and the girls had yet more eggs to find. Emerson found 3 and was done and Hannah needed help from us for the remainder of the eggs. Judy made a beautiful dessert for us and Emerson REALLY enjoyed it. We left there and headed home early because I had to get up the next morning at 4:30. We were all extremely exhausted by the time we got home. I think we were all in bed by 9 and asleep by 9:05.

mmm...We left sunshine and as we got closer to Everett this is what it looked like. Scary!
We are headed to Spokane/Coeur d'Alene tonight. We'll stay at the Pohl's house tonight and Friday night. We're planning on celebrating Jen's birthday Friday night since we won't see her on her actual birthday. Saturday we're going to Hunters soccer game and then to Kenny & Robin's house for a Relay for Life poker tournament. Sunday we'll celebrate Easter with the Eastside family and Monday, Tom has a few work stops to make and then we'll make our way home. Should be a fun "long" weekend and a treat to have Tom with us for 4 whole days. We really shouldn't rush right into that much togetherness. =) Could be dangerous. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

The egg hunt

I am forcing myself to take a few minutes and post. I haven't been in much of a posting mood lately. Possibly because by the time my husband does get home at night, posting is the last thing I want to think about and we really haven't done anything worth posting about. Tom has been working extra late this season and it's been NO fun. So I've been a bit of a crank and I'm sorry. The good news is that today is his last Saturday of work and he only has 4 more days. Hallelujah!
My sister and Jake invited the girls and I to an Easter Egg Hunt today at a church in their neighborhood. It was fun and Emerson has finally grasped the idea of "hunting". It all clicked when a piece of chocolate fell out of an egg. She saw that and was all over them. It was fun to watch her get it. =) Hannah had fun and got lots of eggs. I think she was most excited when I told her that she could probably have Emerson's candy, jackpot! But...the big egg-citement (ha, I couldn't resist) was that Jacob won the grand prize. I made my sister wait around for the drawing. She wanted to get home, I think she was a little tired, but I said, we've waited this long what's another 10 minutes. Well that 10 minutes turned into 30, but it was all worth it. Jacob won a Wii and a Wii Fit!!!! He was so cute, he got up there and he told the lady that he didn't really want the Wii (they already have one) and she gave him a funny look, but handed it over to my appreciative sister. Jacob quickly decided to give the Wii to one of his friends from school and boy was he excited. It was really sweet and fun to watch Jacob give it to him...smiles ALL around.

Waiting and hoping they call her name for the new bike. I wish I could have captured the disappointed smile that came towards me seconds later. Poor girl.By far one of the cutest puppies I've ever seen. I really wanted to snatch her, but...we were at church. =)
I've got a few things to get finished while the girls are still sleeping. I've got to get ready to color eggs, send the Easter bunny an email asking him to hide the eggs inside and figure out how to get crayon out of the dryer. Always fun at our house! =)

We hope you all have a wonderful Easter!
