Busy week

*warning…long post*

Like I said yesterday, Father’s day was the start of a very busy week here in the Walker house.  Monday night Hannah’s class put on two plays. Hannah was in the first one Anansi and the Talking Melon.  Hannah was the elephant and she did a great job remembering her lines.  The Henry’s and my parents joined along for Hannah’s big debut. :)  I’d post the video but I’m afraid it’s too big to share on here.  I’ll have to do a little research and see if it’s even possible. :)Tuesday was Hannah’s final field trip.  We went to Forest Park for an afternoon of fun!  The weather was perfect and it was a great afternoon!Heather and Ethan joined us for the last hour or so.  Such a treat to see them. I didn’t manage to get a picture of him looking at me but he did love the swing!  I think he might have been checking out the little girl next to him. :)

Wednesday was busy.  Thankfully Grandma Judy came up to help me out by taking Emerson to a birthday party.  With Emerson happy at her birthday party I was able to spend the day at field day and help out when needed. :)

Emerson’s party was an old fashioned dress up party.  The girls were told to wear something of their mom’s, like shoes, scarves, shirts.  Emerson LOVED the idea of wearing a pair of my shoes to the party.  She happened to pick out a pair of shoes that Grammy Na gave me.  I’ve not actually worn them but Grammy Na certainly did. :) It amazes me how well she can walk, run and jump in these things.  CrAzY!Such a poser. :)  Her new thing is to close her eyes when she smiles.  *sigh*

There was so much to do at Field day. Each kid was given a wrist band with 24 spaces to get marked off.  After Hannah had been walking around with a few friends for a while, I took her away from those friends and found her someone else to explore with.  The other girls were just doing the same thing over and over and with all those fun choices I thought she needed a little redirection. :)  I think she was pretty happy that I did because she did almost all the events and was loving that she had almost all the stations marked off her band.    Mmmm…cotton candyWater balloon toss…The buddy walk was hard for them.  That’s a lot of concentration and coordination for anyone let alone 6 year olds. :)2:30 was the 1st graders time to hit the giant slip and slide. A giant strip of Visqueen, a little baby shampoo and some water and you’ve got yourself a giant slide. :)By the end of the 1st graders time it was pure madness.  :)

And just like that we’re at Thursday, the last day of school.  I can’t believe that my little girl is done with 1st grade. I wonder if I’ll think that about the end of each school year. :)Hannah wanted to get Mrs. Ogden some flowers for the last day.  I couldn’t argue with that one... she’s a pretty remarkable teacher.  Now I need to convince Mrs. Ogden that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be…at least until Emerson is done with her.  ;)

While Hannah was at school, Jake and Madi helped me decorate the front drive.  We thought it would be a fun way to welcome Hannah home.  The next morning our beautiful drawings were gone, thanks to the rain. :)  Welcome Summer!

And as for Friday, we stayed in our pajamas and took a long afternoon nap.  It was definitely needed after that whirlwind of a week!

Father’s Day

Father’s day was the start to a very busy week for us.  We spent the day at my parents house and enjoyed a very low key afternoon.  Tom had two requests for his day – steak and apple pie.  Pretty easy!

As we were getting the food ready we noticed a hummingbird at the feeder.  I now need a hummingbird feeder.  I can’t be a crazy bird lady without a hummingbird feeder. Tom said he’d fix deviled eggs.  He makes a mean deviled egg.  I had to take a picture to prove to my sisters that there were actually some eggs.  By the time the Henry’s got to Mom & Dad’s there were only 3 left. :)It’s a bad picture but it’s the only one I got of Tom with his Dutch Apple pie.  I ordered his pie from the Snohomish Pie Company.  Quite possibly Tom’s favorite place. :) When I picked it up I mentioned to him that it was still warm, he asked where his fork was.  He was very protective of his pie as you can see…always on the look for someone who might want to snatch it. :)Doing what he loves…Joey came for the celebration.  You might remember Joey from when he was just a pup. He got a bone and when I went out to take a picture, he very politely stood up and posed.  Such a good little doggy!  It almost looks like he’s got a cigar.  :)Roasting our “flat” marshmallows.  We think they work the best for s’mores! Hannah made Tom a handprint picture for Father’s day.  Aww…Oh these two. Trouble 1 & Trouble 2Beck had to leave to go have dinner with Rob’s dad so we had to take a picture without her…The dads and the kids that were left, minus my dad’s kids…someone had to take the pictures.And I wonder where my girls get their “crazy” from…

And that was Father’s day…now on with our busy week!

Spokane

Two weekends ago we went over the mountains for a quick little trip.  Saturday morning we got to watch Hunter play his last baseball game of the season.  We never get to go to any of their sporting events so to be there when one was actually scheduled was a treat!  Saturday afternoon Jen had a Miche purse party.  Talk about one happy girl.  All those cute purses in one room!!  I managed to leave with only one.  I got the big bag and a super cute shell.  It’s the perfect summer color. :)   It was a treat to get to spend 2 nights with the Pohl’s.  We usually only manage to get one night in, but with our schedule this time it just made more sense to stay with them.

We had Hannah take a picture of us and this was the only one where we were both in the picture and actually looking at Hannah. :)  I’ll take what I can get!Caught him mid blink… :)The girls weren’t much into the game so I took them up the hill to the playground at the school.  Emmie was a happy girl on the swing!Hannah and I left early with Jen.  We needed to get back to let the purse lady in. :) Hannah was super happy that we got to ride in Jen’s new car.  We hadn’t been in a slug bug before!Sunday we headed out to the Valley for Little Kenny’s graduation party.  It was a beautiful afternoon for a party.  I had to laugh, I looked out at the kids playing and realized that the old man out there was mine.  He left with only one minor injury and one run with the ball.  Such a proud wife moment!  :)We managed to have the whole family there, minus Kendra & Rich.  I am so glad we were able to make it over! Aunt Jackie and Kellie stopped for a quick picture.My girls love their Uncle Mark, and I think it’s pretty obvious that he loves them back, even if he steals their fruit and drinks their juice. Seriously, he makes me laugh!The graduate!One of these trips I’m just going to bring this little guy back with us.  He could totally be one of our blonde babies, don’t ya think?!?  :)Just like his big brother, this little guy is going to be on his own skateboard in no time!

It definitely was a quick trip there and back but totally worth every single minute!

Sunday bike ride

We watched the Henry kids one night while Rob and Beck had a photo shoot.  We finished up dinner and then took the kids for a bike ride.  I walked and stayed behind with Emmie.  We had great intentions of riding to the Chocolate Moose for ice cream but we got there 15 minutes too late.  Good thing there was a McDonalds just a few blocks further.  By the time we were done and back to the house the big kids rode over 5 miles and little Emmie rode at least 2 miles.  She melted down (rightfully so) on the way home and her and I stopped and waited for Tom to come pick us up in the car.  :)

The big kids rode ahead of us and did a loop around the lake.  We all made it to the Chocolate Moose at the same time.  Emmie kept looking behind to see where they were, little did she know they were across the lake. :)Thank goodness for McDonalds!Ready for the ride home!

I have a feeling that we’ll be making a few trips around Lake Tye this summer…now that both girls have discovered the joy of riding bikes!
