Pumpkin Patch

We had hopes of a fun family day at the pumpkin patch but that didn't quite happen. A few minutes after we got to Craven Farm it started to rain, then the downpour started. We tried to make it out to the pumpkin field but it was SO muddy and there were hardly any pumpkins out there to pick. We were most disappointed! We got some Kettle Corn and tried to get a picture or two but it just didn't happen for us. Thank goodness for grocery store pumpkin patches.

Happy Halloween!!!

Halloween party

Last weekend we were invited to my sister's friend, Charlotte's big Halloween bash. Not wanting to be blacklisted from future parties, we went, even though the only ones we'd know would be the Henry's. Tom ended up staying home because he had a fever and I left Emerson home with him. I'm really glad I did because I kept getting updates throughout the night about how Emerson was slowly going downhill. By the time Hannah and I got home she was running a fever of 102.6. The two of them have been sicker this week than all year long. I didn't go in costume because my better half wasn't there but Hannah was more than excited to put on her costume. Charlotte and Jay know how to throw a party and oh my goodness their house was amazing. I'm really glad Hannah and I went, we had a great time.

Velma, Shaggy, Fred & Daphne - Their mystery tonight? To find Scooby.There was even a ventriloquist there.The kids all loved it...I thought it was REALLY creepy.Tom was disappointed when he saw a few of the goodies that he missed.Ms. Charlotte (aka Princess Peach) explaining the hay search. They had a candy search in the hay. Hannah thought this was WAY cool.Hannah (aka Sleeping Beauty) and her loot bag. She did really well. =) And yes, we straightened her hair. You know...Sleeping Beauty did NOT have curly hair. =) She's not too happy about the talk of rain on Halloween "my hair will not stay straight if it rains". I've tried to tell her that I'm sure at some point in Sleeping Beauty's life she had curly hair.

Pumpkin Carving Night

Last week Hannah's class got together with three kindergarten classes from Skyline Elementary down the street. (Hannah's teacher, Mr. Kusler, teaches there in the morning.) They had their annual Kindergarten Pumpkin Carving night. Tom stayed home with Emerson since they both weren't feeling well, so Hannah and I had a date night. She loved having one on one mom time and it was nice to focus on her and not be chasing our crazy little one around. I do have to say that I did wish Tom was there because I was having problems cleaning out the pumpkin with my bum shoulder (I don't quite have all range of motion back yet) and Hannah was having NOTHING to do with the inside of the pumpkin. It was actually quite comical. We all gathered in the gym and families sat around on the floor and carved away. After the carving the kids sang a few songs they've been working on. It was a super fun evening and I'm really glad we went. Too bad it's just a kindergarten thing because it would be fun to do this again next year.

Spokane part 2

Sunday morning we woke to Hannah crying. Poor girl woke up with that darn sore throat and a fever of 102. We debated on whether or not we should just head home, but after talking with Caryl we decided we would head over to see her. I really didn't want to take her over there and infect a house full of people, but then again I didn't really want her to have to sit in the car for 5 hours when she didn't feel good. We got her fever under control thanks to Motrin and Tylenol and headed over to Idaho. It turned out to be a good weekend for us to visit. Mark & Kolten were in town along with Caryl's brother and niece. It was nice to catch up with them. We even got in part of a game of 3 - 13 of which I'm sure I was winning, as usual. (Ha Ha)

After spending the afternoon with Caryl, I met up with Jen and Grace to go see Warren Barfield while Tom took the girls back for bed. It was by chance that Jen found out that he was in Spokane the same weekend I was there. I was so excited go and so excited that she got tickets (which reminds me that I need to send you a check). I had so much fun. Those Pohl girls seriously C.R.A.C.K. me up.

Rather than head out first thing Monday morning, we decided to let Hannah rest and take it slow. We took the girls to the fire station on base to say goodbye to "Auntie Eddie". You can tell from the pictures that she's just not feeling well even though she didn't have a fever.

After the fire station we went to lunch at Zips and then back to pack up. Jen had requested a picture with me and well...there are really no words for what happened next. I wasn't planning on posting the pictures but JEN put them on her blog so half of the world has already seen them. (sigh) Here you go... And just so you know, not one "normal" picture was taken. Maybe next time. =)

Once we were on our way we were treated to some pretty spectacular scenery. The clouds we encountered were like nothing I've ever seen. We tried to get pictures but they seriously don't do them justice. Amazing.

I'm so glad we were able to make the trip over. It was one of the best weekends I've had in a LONG time.

Spokane part 1

We headed over the mountains last weekend as kind of a last minute trip. Hunter was having his birthday party and well, we haven't been over since April. I will warn you that this might be Walker picture overload. If I was smart, I would link to Jen's blog since she's already posted all of this but I won't take the easy way out. So if you read both blogs, I apologize because you've already heard 80% of this. =)

Hannah was really, really excited to go...until she heard we had 2.5 hours left to go.

Emerson enjoyed a little light reading.

Saturday morning Jen and I went for coffee and breakfast makings. It was fun to watch the boys make a yummy breakfast. They had fun using their new bacon genie...maybe a little too much fun. =)

After breakfast we got to watch Hunter play football. Tom really enjoyed watching him play. It's fun to actually watch the game rather than just reading about it or hearing about it from Jen. He's quite good even with a broken finger!

Emerson was a good little cheerleader.

After the game we went to Dicks for burgers and shakes. Unfortunately for me, most of my yummy milkshake ended up in Emerson's lap. Silly girl grabbed a hold of it and wouldn't let go...two girls and one milkshake never ends good. Poor girl had to be stripped down in the parking lot, poor me only had a few sips left. =)

Hunter was nice and let us crash his friend party. We did our best not to embarrass him. After pizza, presents and cake we went to our first Spokane Chiefs hockey game.

We've heard how the Pohl's are fun to go to hockey games with, so we were super excited to experience one with them. They didn't let us down! We had so much fun.

Hannah had her face painted. I'm pretty sure she thought she could get a butterfly or something like that, but she was at a hockey game. There are no butterflies at hockey games! She was a good sport.

It's been said that Grace isn't much of a baby/kid person but I would have to disagree. She is always so wonderful with Hannah!Hunter even got his name in lights!

At the game is where Hannah started to go down hill. We walked up to go to the bathroom and when we got to the top of the stairs I turned around and Hannah was in tears. Poor girl had a sore throat and the start of fever. I knew it was bad when even a frozen lemonade didn't make her happy. She couldn't even finish it. I checked her temperature in the car on the way home and it was 101...not good. Other than that, we all had a wonderful day with the Pohl's. Happy Birthday Hunter! Thanks for letting us be a part of your fun day!
