March 31, 2012 - Sweater Trees

I got an email from a friend at work  who told me about a nearby park where all the trees had been adorned with sweaters.  Trees with sweaters??  As soon as I saw her pictures I knew I knew that I needed to take the girls down to take a look.  It was one of the craziest thing I’ve seen and the girls got a kick out of it.  All those colorful trees made me so happy! 

How can you not hug a tree that’s wearing a colorful sweater?!?  Emerson loved it so much she gave it a little smooch.

I’m thinking that trees really should have sweaters…so pretty!

March 1, 2012–Green Eggs & Ham

Green Eggs & Ham day at school today in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  I look forward to this day every year not because of the green eggs or the ham but for the fabulous cinnamon rolls that accompany the eggs and ham. 

Each year I make the girls, as well as myself, try the eggs.  This year two out of the three actually ate the eggs.  Emerson and I thought they were better this year than last but Hannah still couldn’t get passed the color.  At least she tried. 

So thankful for our PTA and our school for providing this fun breakfast!

February 27, 2012–Tom’s 36th

With the craziness of tax season and at Tom’s request we kept his birthday pretty low key.  His only request was dinner at Buca di Beppo’s.  Easy enough!  Judy and Kevin met us there and we all ate until we were completely stuffed.  Seriously yummy food!

We tried for a few pictures but there were a few uncooperative people.  :)For some reason Hannah thinks it’s fun to smile with her eyes closed…little sister tried to follow her lead.  I really hope this isn’t a lasting trend.My girls have a strange fascination with this statue.  Emmie kept saying how “appropriate” it was.  She hasn’t quite mastered appropriate vs inappropriate.  :)After dinner we went home and Tom got to open his presents.  Hannah and Emerson each picked out a gift for Tom.  I love these pictures of Emerson and Tom.  I’m not sure who is more excited…Tom to receive the gift or Emerson because she was so proud of what she picked out.  She’s been talking about getting him a Darth Vader mask since Christmas.  Hannah picked out Season 1 of The Big Bang Theory.  Tom’s very favorite show. :)Getting a little help blowing out all those candles.

February 26, 2012–Emerson’s Earrings

The girls and I were at the mall shopping for Tom’s birthday presents and Emerson decided that she really wanted her ears pierced.  We went to Claire’s to look at earrings and that’s when she quickly changed her mind.  I’m sure that it had nothing to do with the scared little girl sitting in the chair waiting to get her ears pierced.   We left the mall and I made it clear to Emerson that when she was ready, I would take her.  I wasn’t really expecting her to wake up the next morning wanting earrings.  I’m pretty sure that I must have asked her a million times if she was really, really sure she wanted it done.  She assured me she was, so off to the mall we went.  I think she was sure right up until they sat her in the chair and then the nerves set in.   

Getting the pen marks on her ears…so much excitement!And just like that it was over.  She cried for a few minutes and then couldn’t wait to look at her new sparkly earrings.  Just like her sister, with every single mirror we passed she had to stop and admire her new beautiful earrings!

So, so pretty with her sparkly new earrings!

I’m back…

So, it’s been a really long time since my last post and I do apologize to anyone who may actually still check in here.  If I had it my way I’d redo the first 4 months of this year.  Between Hannah & Emmie being sick repeatedly, discovering the hard way that Hannah was having panic attacks, tax season, work and just life in general, I’m ready for a redo.  I’m finally at a point where I feel like I can breathe again and am ready to get back on track.  I’m going to do my best to recap, quickly and get back to more regular blogging.  :)

February 2, 2012 – Painting

Hannah was home from school today after having a fever yesterday.  She wasn’t feeling super but well enough to paint.    They both take their painting very seriously.
