Last summer day?

Well, I think our warm summer days are coming to an end.  Monday it was the upper 70’s but it sure didn’t feel like it.  The girls played in the pool for a little bit and then asked to go in because they were too cold.  :) It would have been perfect had there not been a breeze.  Shark Girls (2) Hannah loves showing off her “going under water” skills.  Even in the little baby pool.  :)Shark Girls (4) Shark Girls (5)Emmie had fun being a shark.Shark Girls (7) She was working on her tail splashing skills.Shark Girls (8) Trying to make a mean face while splashing…Shark Girls (9)The mean face came out when she stopped splashing.  Apparently she can’t splash and have a mean face at the same time.  :) Scary Shark.Shark Girls (12) Shark attack!Shark Girls (13)Sadly, I think I’ll be putting the pool away this weekend.  I don’t see another day above 71 in the near future.  Welcome back Fall!  You know what that means Nana…time for you to come back for a visit.  :)

SOCCER!!!

The day is finally here.  Hannah’s first day of soccer.  Woo-Hoo! It’s hard to tell who is more excited, Hannah or Tom and I.  Aunt Susie said a while ago that she would coach Hannah’s team so we took her up on that offer and signed them both up.  After Saturday, I’m thinking Aunt Susie might have been rethinking her decision to coach.  It’s been a while since she coached “bumblebee” soccer.  :)  She did great and so did all of the girls.  Hannah is one of 5 girls on her team.  Lake Stevens Soccer has them play the first 2 years as 3 on 3.  They have practice for 45 minutes followed by 45 minutes of a game.  Our team didn’t do so well in the time factor, we play every Saturday from 2 – 3:30.  Until the end of October.  I guess it’s one way to ensure that we’re home on the weekends, right?  :)

She was less than excited about having to wear black shorts.  I mean, who wears black shorts??  :)Sporty (1) Practicing throw ins.  At this age, they want the coaches to work primarily on throw ins, corner kicks and goal kicks(?).  Looks like the mama needs to practice not cutting things off in pictures.  :)Sporty (4) Running laps, with a smile, I might add. Sporty (5) This picture cracks me up.  Just standing there.  Sporty (6) In action.Sporty (9)Sporty (12) Typical Hannah.  :)Sporty (10)I’m so happy that she had a good first game and that she’s still excited for this coming Saturday.

AquaSox again…

Our super fantastic insurance agent, Dave Keen (who also happens to be in Tom’s networking group), got us tickets to the AquaSox game for last Friday night. We were able to snag a couple extra tickets and bring Papa and Nonnie along.  It was a cool night and by the end of the evening we were all standing because the metal benches were too cold for our hiney’s.

Hannah was super excited for the “Thunder Stix” that were handed out.  We learned about them from the Pohls when we went to a hockey game with them.  :)AquaSox (3) Dave is a minor sponsor of the AquaSox so we, being guests of Dave’s, got to participate in some of the “entertainment”.  Dr. Brice, Dave & some guy I don’t know, (who happens to look a little like Freddy Garcia, anyone remember him?  The Mariner’s pitcher from back in the day…I have his autograph.) getting ready for the tricycle races.AquaSox (4) Dave showing off…he was so proud of his wheelie.  :)AquaSox (7) Boys.AquaSox (10) Dr. Brice sneaks up from behind and takes the win.  His wife was super proud.  :)AquaSox (15) Dave asked Tom if he and Hannah wanted to do the “Fishin’ for Tuition” game.  Hannah didn’t really want to but in the end she was happy she did it.  Hannah had to toss fish to Tom and he had to catch them.  Here they are after the warm up.  What a goof ball.AquaSox (17) Heading out…AquaSox (18) Last minute instructions…AquaSox (20) And they’re off…AquaSox (21)AquaSox (22)They didn’t win, but I know they had fun.  Hannah kept saying that her Daddy needed to work on his catching, he missed a few.  Hannah 10, the other kid 16.  :)AquaSox (24) Emerson couldn’t be outdone…she had to show off her mad spoon skills.AquaSox (25) Oh these two…they we’re fighting fools.  It’s hard to tell who had more fun.  ;)AquaSox (26) AquaSox (28) We stayed through the end of the game, which they won (I think) and for the fireworks.  I have to say if there hadn’t been fireworks we would have left a lot sooner, it was chilly.  The fireworks were great.  Emmie enjoyed them for the first few minutes and then she was in my arms crying.  Thank you Mr. Dave Keen for a fun evening.

Sweet 16!

Our little Brittany is growing up.  She turned 16 today and we went out to dinner to celebrate.  She’ll be having a bigger family party with Karl next month.  It’s really hard to believe that those two are 16 and driving.  Yikes.  The Buzz Inn in Snohomish seems to be a favorite of ours these days.  It’s fun to go eat and watch the sky divers, although tonight there weren’t any because apparently it was too hot.  Who knew.  We did however see a few hot air balloons head up for a sunset float.  My mom had told Brittany that she would buy her a tandem jump for her big day but you have to be at least 18.  Bummer for Brittany. I do think that in two years she’ll be hitting grandma and grandpa up for that jump.  She’s crazy like that.  Britty's 16th (2)Almost all of us.  Susie had to work, Spencer and Cameron weren’t able to make it and the Henry’s joined us after I had taken the picture and of course I forgot to take another.Britty's 16th (1) Silly girl wouldn’t open her eyes for a picture.  :)  It was her birthday and I guess she can get away with that.   Britty's 16th (3)Happy sweet 16 Brittany, we love you and we hope you have a most fantastic year!  “Oh goodness, yes”  :)

A visit with Ethan

Last week, Heather and Ethan came over for a visit. Yay! The girls and I were at my mom’s house trying to escape the heat of our house.  With temperatures in the 90’s, our house tends to hover right at 87.  Not comfortable when you’ve got two little ones and are planning on watching a newborn for a friend.  Mom and Dad’s house is always cooler, even if that’s just in my head.  Their deck is out of the sun by 1 and they always have a little breeze.  It’s just perfect for sunny days.  Now if only we could have bought the house next to them we would be set. I digress.

Emmie was just in love with him. Can you blame her?  He’s so cute.Ethan (1)Ethan (2) Apparently Emmie was done holding on to him.  Clunk went his little noggin.  He didn’t mind.  Such a good little boy!Ethan (3) We’ll have to have more of these little visits.  Such a treat for us all.

Splash Pad

We went to the Willis Tucker Splash Park today in an attempt to beat the heat.  We went with Kira, Mimi and baby Violet and met up with JJ and her boys.  For as warm as it was outside, there weren’t many people there.  I think that by going after lunch we missed a lot of the after lunch nap crowd.  I think Emerson missed her nap but didn’t want to be any place but where she was.

As we were standing around talking we looked over and saw Jacob meditating in the middle of the crowd.  JJ and I got a serious laugh when we saw him.  She mentioned that earlier that morning she found him sitting on the hood of the car doing the same thing.  This boy makes me LAUGH.  We’re going to miss him!WT Park (1) So gross and so wrong. The more I told her not to, the more she tried to gross me out.WT Park (3)WT Park (2)I’m not sure what was going on with Hannah today but she just wasn’t her normal happy self.  She said she was having fun, but I found her more than a few times just standing by herself. She perked up after a while, but it took some time.WT Park (5) After a little while, the kids all went over to the park.  Emerson wanted to swing and the bigger girls headed off to the climbing rope thing.WT Park (6) Making sure she can see her big sister.  :)WT Park (7)We left shortly after this picture was taken.  They shut the water off for maintenance and it was perfect timing if you ask me.  Emerson was starting to show the effects of not having a nap.  :)WT Park (8)

I’m glad I got at least one happy picture of Hannah. :)

34

Apparently I am now 34, and as Hannah points out I’m getting old.  :)  I had a pretty laid back day. Which really was a birthday treat all in itself.  Tom made PW’s monkey bread (I highly recommend you make this) or monkey butt as he likes to call it.   Tom was nice and let me help out.  I got to shake the bag of biscuits, cinnamon and sugar making sure they were all covered evenly.  From this day forward I vow to never use any storage bag other than Ziploc.  The directions said to shake vigorously.  Well I did just that and lost part of it on the floor due to the cheap non sealing bags.  Another tip for you…if you’re going to make monkey bread do NOT use the Grands biscuits, just get the normal sized biscuits.  They may or may not expand bigger than you’re expecting and get all over your oven. 34 (1) SO delicious!34 (2) My sister had the family over for a birthday dinner, shish kabobs heavy on the zucchini and onion…just the way I like them.  They have a nice awning over their deck which was nice because we could still sit outside even though it was raining.

34 (4)It wouldn’t be a party without a lava lamp! (Thanks Madi!)34 (3)34 (7) 34 (8) Dave, Brenda and Spencer.  Brenda is Spencer’s sweetie.  :)34 (10) 34 (12) Apparently when she can’t find her “mo” she goes to her toes.  EWWW Gross!34 (15)

So, I’ve been waiting for a picture of me from my sister but I can’t wait any longer.  I have no picture of myself on my birthday.  I guess that’s what happens when you’re the picture taker in your family.  :)  For the record…I really was there.
