Kayak Point

Friday was one of the biggest days in Kindergarten...field trip day. Also known as "ride the bus" day. I think Hannah was almost as excited to go to the beach as she was to ride the bus. I guess when you don't get to do something, like ride the bus, it just makes it that much more appealing. The morning of the field trip I woke at 3:30 to the pounding rain and thought to myself "I hope it's getting all it's rain out". It didn't and it continued to pour pretty much the entire trip. Rain and cold wind do not couple well with Kindergartners. More than half of the group were ready to head back before lunch, but then there were a few die hards that pushed through the cold and wet and had themselves a great time. Tom was able to go along on the trip which made Hannah a happy girl. He was a big help with the little guy that was in our group. He was able to focus on him which made everyone happy. :)

Hannah and her friend Abigail. That girl knows how to give hugs. Our "group".Checking the shell for treasures. We hadn't been there 10 minutes and Hannah fell. She cut her finger but more horrifying was the fact that she got her pants all muddy. Poor girl was crying because she didn't think she could get back on the bus with muddy pants. I assured her that school buses have seen much, much worse. Once she realized that she would get to ride the bus back to school, she was her happy self again. :)

The biggest kid on the field trip. I think Tom was a little disappointed with the lack of big rocks to turn over. He loves to uncover sea life.Comparing their wounds. :)She claims this was the worlds biggest barnacle. The weather combined with a low tide produced lots and lots of starfish. Mr. Kusler never disappoints. He's got a hat for every occasion. Hannah's 1st grade teacher has some pretty big shoes to fill. His morning and afternoon classes together.Hannah's class minus 3 kids.We were going to head back up there today with a couple of her friends and their families, but with a new addition to our family (YAY!!) we'll be excitedly heading up to the hospital instead. I'll be back soon with pictures of baby Ethan. Woot-Woot!!

BuBbLeS

This last Tuesday Emerson had a little play date at our house with her friends Caleb and Aubrey. Not knowing how to contain three 2 year olds in our little house, I took them out to play with bubbles. In my opinion bubbles are a hit with any age. At one point I couldn't figure out why they kept falling down but then I realized that the grass was super slippery from the bubbles. They thought it was hilarious that they were falling and I have to admit that I thought so too. :)
I think she thought she was a dog.Up next...field trip pictures. Happy long weekend!

Lotion

The other night Tom, Hannah and I were sitting on the couch. I smelled something fruity but couldn't figure out what it was. Tom got up so I asked him to go check on Emerson who was being suspiciously quiet. Tom hollered for me and this is what we found...Emerson covered in my Bath & Body Works lotion. This girl loves her moisturizer.

Oh that girl!

Judy's Birthday

We had dinner in Issaquah on Sunday night. Celebrating Grandma Judy's birthday and visiting with Rich, Leina and the boys. Grandma and Grandpa have been wanting a picture of them and all of their grandbabies since Alex made his debut. These pictures make me laugh. Hannah, Grandpa & Alex all did a good job cooperating while the other side of the picture was a little more difficult. :) I think this is the best one out of the bunch.
Uncle Rich is such a fun Uncle...playing Candy Land with the kids.
And then there is this sweet little boy. OH my WORD. I could just eat him up. He is SO cute and so snuggly and so perfect. As soon as we got there I promptly took him from Judy and didn't give him back...well, until he got hungry and then I gave him to his mama.I did share him a little bit with Emerson. She thought he was pretty cool...or was it his toys that she thought were pretty cool?
I'm thinking it was his toys.
Happy Birthday! Notice the pictures on the fridge? Rich did those. He cracks me up with his love of coloring. It was a nice end to a long, but great day.

Katie's Shower

This last weekend was really a blur. Saturday morning the Pohl's came over for a really quick visit. They were in town for a niece's birthday party so we saw them after the party. It was a fun night that was over too quickly. They headed back home early Sunday morning. It seemed like we blinked and they were gone. Sunday afternoon we had a bridal shower for another one of my beautiful cousins. Katie and Landon are getting married in Maui in less than one month! Woo hoo! I am really sad that we won't be there with them for the actual ceremony but we'll be with them in spirit, that's for sure. Here are a few pictures from the shower.

This cake was SO good. I'm not much of a cake person, but this was yum-O.
Sevi was sweet and helped watch the little kids.
Heather (no baby yet) and Melissa. Present time. I didn't get any pictures of presents, I had to tend to my naked daughter who was splashing in the water outside. I hear Katie got lots of fun stuff. :) Becky & I got her a dutch oven and the Pioneer Woman's cookbook. Mmm mmm mmm! She's going to be such a pretty bride.
The party throwers and a naked Emerson.
Grandma Barb and Grammy Jo with Katie. :) We had to head out of the shower a little early. Come to think of it I don't even think I said goodbye to Katie, just waved at her with my Littlest Pet Shop sunglasses on. We left Arlington, picked Tom up and then headed to Issaquah for dinner to celebrate Grandma Judy's birthday. I've got another post for those pictures. I now have proof that Emerson and Jakob are two peas in a pod! :)

The beach

I love going to the ocean, especially when it's nice. It was an amazingly beautiful weekend. Yes, I said weekend. The entire weekend was beautiful. Simply unheard of for us Walkers. I think our bad beach weather luck has changed. Yay.

I made Tom stop at the Jetty on our way in. It was so beautiful but the wind was SO very chilly.

I'm excited to have the Henry's join us at the beach for a few days in June. It should be lots of fun but really I'm hoping Rob will give me some beach photography tips. :)

Saturday morning we headed down early to experience low tide. We all turn into little adventurers when there is a low tide. :)The creature on the right, the dinosaur looking one...they're called Chiton's. We'd never seen them before.
This creature was the craziest of them all.Later that afternoon we went to Damon Point. The girls braved the wind, stripped down to their swimsuits and played in the warm sand.
We had a picnic lunch, watched the pelican's dive for food, almost got hit by a flock of crazy birds that came out of no where, went for a walk and put Hannah in jail. "That was silly because I can just walk right out, mom".
One of the ladies that I work with has a house down there as well. I was telling her about our adventure at Damon Point and she told me that is where she finds heart shaped rocks. I think that will be our next adventure when we're down there in June...heart shaped rocks. How fun.

We headed back to the house and had "cocktails"...aka s'mores. Emerson didn't last long because the smoke got in her eyes. Instead, she went in and watched Where The Wild Things Are. Which to me it looks a bit on the scary side, but Emerson seems to love it.
Hannah and I set out to find the male pheasant that was squawking rather loudly. On our way back she decided she wanted me to take "jumping" pictures. Grace is known for taking jumping pictures and well Hannah LOVES Grace, so now Hannah is always wanting jumping pictures. :) Sunday morning we woke up to a bit of rain. There was another really low tide so we braved the rain and headed out. I didn't take my camera because of the rain and well, it only lasted a few minutes and the clouds burned off shortly after we got down there. I was really bummed because we saw two whales! At first we only saw the water spouts, which were pretty cool and pretty tall considering how far out they were, but on our way back to the house, Hannah and I saw the tail of one of them. So very cool. These two pictures of Emerson were taken about five minutes apart. No matter the weather, she always thinks it's necessary to strip at the beach.
Much to my dismay, Tom climbed up to the top of the slippery rock pile to "get a better view of the whales". :)Emerson was in her happy place...an otter pop and a soda. So spoiled, but that's what grandparents are for, right? It was really hard to head back home after such an amazing weekend.
