Lake/River

I call it a river, Tom calls it a lake but whatever you want to call it, that’s where we went Sunday afternoon.  Jen and the kids came out to play in the water and they brought Daisy along so she could enjoy the water as well.  Only problem was that dogs weren’t allowed at the park.  Tom and I drove by Saturday night and didn’t see anything about dogs not being allowed, but as soon as we got down there, there was a small sign above the covered area that said, No Skateboarding and No Dogs.  Seriously, they could put a bigger sign out in the open, where everyone can clearly see it.  Anyway, we walked down away from the beach towards the rocks and let the princess play in the water.  We figured we’d be ok, since we were away from the crowd and over by the rocks (no beach).  She loved it and I loved watching her play.  She reminded me of a dolphin the way she bounded through the water.  Turns out someone didn’t appreciate her playing in the water, away from all the people, and called Animal Control.  Talk about a fun killer.  I’m glad she got a few minutes of water fun.  :)

Look at that face…so cute!River (2) Hannah had fun playing in the water but she had more fun playing in the sand with the new friend she made.  That girl has no problems making new friends.  I love that about her.River (5) Emerson was happy as a clam to be swimming with her daddy.  She likes to ride on his back.  Unfortunately, she also likes to drink the water.  GRoSS!  Can you see how brown it was? Yuck.River (6) Hunter’s belly flop.  He flopped pretty hard. Poor guy.River (18) At one point, Tom and Grace decided to jump off the other side of the dock.  I love this picture.  Tom’s trying to figure out the easiest way for them to get up while Grace happily smiled for a picture.  River (23)Grace did several jumps off the dock with Tom.  Tom said I had to crop him out of the pictures if I wanted to put them on the blog.  So here is Grace jumping, just imagine Tom off to the right.  :)

Next time we’ll find a place where dogs are allowed so we can spend the whole day together. :)

After our fun at the River/Lake we headed back to Caryl’s place and Kenny & Robin joined us for an early dinner.  The girls seriously love their boys and I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, those boys are so sweet with my girls.  They play hide and seek over and over and over and let them tag along where ever they go.  They just don’t seem to mind the clinging, at least if they do they don’t let on that it bothers them.

Morgan, Kenny, Hannah, Brady, & EmersonIMG_0098We had planned on going home Sunday night but a migraine decided that I might have more fun with that than driving home.  We stayed the night and headed out at 5 am Monday morning.

The moon was still shining!IMG_0102 It was an early morning but I’m glad we got out when we did before the heat.  :)

Air Fest 2010

This last weekend we went to Spokane to go to the big air show with the Pohls.  I cannot express to you how cool it was to be on base, walking around taking it all in.  It’s not every day that you get to walk by the flight line and in and out of hangars, let alone be so close to the amazing planes.  As we walked through our first hangar, I really wanted someone to reenact the famous scene from Miss Congeniality…but no one would do it for me.  :)

Tom’s favorite plane, the A-10.  Can you see how giddy he is?  Seriously when he saw this plane he practically jumped with joy.  AirFest (2)They had a few demonstrations that were fun to watch.AirFest (13)AirFest (3)We invited Jakob to come along with us.  We don’t get to do much with just him so it was a treat for us all.  Plus, it was fun for Tom to have a little boy with him who shared (somewhat) in his excitement of the planes.AirFest (8)To say that it was hot, is an understatement.  I’m not sure of the actual temperature but I do know that it was at least 90 degrees.  Hannah was a bit on the cranky side, but I do have to remind myself that she only had 7 hours of sleep the night before, and she’s my sleeper.  Once we got her a frozen lemonade she was better…until it was gone.AirFest (4)The girls minus Emmie, she was snoozing in the stroller.AirFest (5) This was Hannah’s favorite part of the air show.  She insists that this was an airplane that shot cold water.  Who am I to argue with her?AirFest (10)   The F-4AirFest (15) Emmie was fine with the loud noises as long as she covered her ears. :)AirFest (21) Tom’s plane in the air.AirFest (19)They called this the heritage flight…a representation of the different generations of the Air Force.  WWII era P-51, Vietnam era F-4 and the modern day era A-10.  Pretty cool.AirFest (25) Jakob was a big help with Emmie, he wanted to carry her everywhere.AirFest (28) Hannah and Jakob in front of the Thunderbirds.  My favorite quote of the day from Hannah “are the birds really flying those planes?”.AirFest (32)I had to take his picture…it’s not every day I see the US Marshall walking in front of me.  Usually it’s only on NCIS…on the TV in front of me.AirFest (34) The Thunderbirds. AirFest (36) in action…AirFest (41)They did these crazy stunts that made my hands totally sweat.AirFest (39)  And then would fly right toward each other…AirFest (43)seriously, made my heart skip beats…AirFest (44) Entirely too close for my comfort.AirFest (53)AirFest (49) Somehow, I’m not sure how, but Emerson fell asleep towards the end of the show.  She even managed to stay asleep during the final fly over.  She was tired!AirFest (55) As we were making our way towards our car, we were able to get up close and personal with a few of the planes. Jakob was interested in seeing where they store the bombs.AirFest (58) And touching the tips of the wings.AirFest (59)

Despite having to sit in our car for over 40 minutes waiting to get out of the parking lot, I am so glad we went.  We had a wonderful time!  Thanks to Jen and Ed for inviting us over.  :)

Katie & Landon

Last Saturday Katie and Landon had their wedding reception.  It was held at one of the most beautiful places, La Conner Flats.  I kept telling Tom that I wanted to either get married there or move in. :)  It was a wonderful afternoon celebrating two very special people.

At the back of the farm, looking towards the party.K and L (3)

These two have the potential to be BIG trouble if left together.  Katie says the same thing about Cole that I do about Emmie…thank goodness he’s so cute.  :)K and L (6) Seriously such a beautiful couple.K and L (7) K and L (8)These two are the best of friends.  She didn’t let Papa out of her sight for too long.  She kept coming up to me asking me where Papa was, she’d spot him and then go on with whatever it was she was doing.K and L (11) Sevi & BrittanyK and L (12) This little guy was the hit of the party.  Everyone wanted to love on him.  Some people more than others.  :)K and L (13) Heather, Karen (Heather’s mother in law), Baby Ethan, Julie, Me, Susan, Katie, Mom & Becky sharing a moment.  K and L (14) I loved the apple trees with the hanging flower baskets.  I need a few of these trees at my next house.K and L (16) The giant bouncy house, that kept the kids busy.  Brilliant idea on Katie and Landon’s part.K and L (17) Emerson didn’t need a bouncy house – she found the dirt.K and L (18) I didn’t get too many other pictures.  I was too busy chasing after my daughter who wouldn’t keep her clothes on.  We found her underpants under the food table, her dress outside the bouncy house.  At one point Tom had to chase her down…she was headed straight towards the bouncy house…stark naked.  Apparently she thought her daddy couldn’t get her in the bouncy house.  I think all the kids inside were relieved that she didn’t make it in there.

Rob took pictures for Katie and if you’d like to take a look at them you can find them HERE.   The password is KL123
