Spoiled

So, it turns out that my girls might just be a tad bit spoiled. Shocking, I know! It also seems that their father has a hard time saying no to them. Hannah got a new bike on Saturday night. We took the girls to see The Princess and the Frog on Saturday after Tom got home from work. After the movie, which was pretty good, we went to Michael's and then Toys R Us. Tom and Hannah headed to the bikes, while Emerson & I were checking out the baby dolls. It seems that a certain someone has a big heart and has a really hard time telling a certain 5 year old no when she has a smile the size of Texas on her face. I have to admit that I didn't exactly do anything to stop the purchase, I just like to give him a hard time. I wish I had brought my camera out because her smile was something else. She just couldn't believe that she was going to get a new bike. Poor girl desperately needed a new bike. She out grew her old one about a month after we got it for her. So, it was a good thing. :) Sunday before the rain came we decided to head out and let her take her new bike for a spin on the Centennial trail. She just couldn't get over how much faster her new bike is. :)
Emerson did good on her trike for about 5 minutes and then she wanted to run. This is about 10 seconds before she fell and hurt her cold hands. She made her daddy carry her. I love how she's holding on to his forehead. I think she was trying to warm her hands.
She loves her new bike!

No fun!

On Thursday Emerson had her 2 year check up. She's growing good despite her lack of interest in eating. She weighed in at 26 pounds and is 34 inches tall which put her in the 50th percentile for both. I told Dr. Suzuki about how she likes to stick things (Nerds) up her nose. She's done it 3 times now. Dr. Suzuki told me to bring her in the next time she does it and they'll suck whatever it is, out with a big noisy contraption. She said that she's never had a child come back with something up their nose, after they've had something sucked out. :) She also told me that I'm going to have my hands full with her. DUH! Emerson had to have 3 shots and she wasn't too happy about that. I laughed when they brought in some Tylenol for her, she sipped it as if it were some fancy wine. After each sip she said "mmm good". It took her almost 5 minutes to sip a teaspoon of Tylenol! Poor thing was not impressed with the multiple shots, but I had to smile as we walked out of the room and she looked at me and said through her tears "NO fun mama, NO fun". She's right, that wasn't any fun.
Caleb came over to play yesterday. It was pretty warm outside so we went outside to play. They had SO much fun together!

Rock Band Heroes

We couldn't take a trip over the mountains without stopping to see the Pohl's. Our visit with them was quick but fun. Hannah saw the drums and had to play. I'm pretty sure Tom was feeling the same way. I think there is a part of him that really wanted to be a rocker. :)
Hannah grabbed the sticks and her inner drummer came out...1,2, a 1,2,3!!
When she found out she could sing a Taylor Swift song, she asked Auntie Jen to switch.
Emmie wasn't as impressed with the band, so she made herself comfy with her best friend, Bob. But then she discovered the drum sticks.
I love this picture of Tom's foot. He's really rockin out, he's on his toes.
Auntie Jen snapped this one. Love it.
Such a sweet puppy! I posted this picture as my picture of the day. Makes me laugh.
I don't think the Walker's will be starting up our own band anytime soon. We pretty much failed at all the songs we did. Not so good! Maybe if Nana was our lead singer we would really rock. :)

Kenny's 40th

I've been so focused on staying on top of my picture a day that I've totally neglected the regular blog. It doesn't help that we haven't had much going on...I haven't had much of a reason to pull out the camera. The exception to that was last weekend when we went to Spokane for Kenny's surprise 40th birthday party. We went over early Saturday morning and came back late Sunday night. A very quick trip but very much worth it.
Hannah complained that she needed a little fresh air...so Tom rolled all the windows down.
Makes for some really cool hair.
Jakob & Leina waiting.Nana and three of her grandbabies. My girls love Ashlie. Emmie wouldn't let Ashlie out of her sight.

Kenny showed up around 3:30 and SURPRISE! I think he was truly surprised to see everyone in his basement.

Uncle Kenny let her lick the frosting off his finger. They are now forever friends.Mmm...ribs! Parker did a number on the ribs.

The kids quickly found their own entertainment. Jumping off the stairs onto a giant bean bag. My hands get a little sweaty just thinking about Emerson jumping off. That girl...I tell you!

Happy Birthday Kenny. We are so glad we were able to help celebrate your big day.

Birthday party

We finally celebrated Emmie's birthday. A little late, but I think it worked out really well. My sister ever so graciously let us have it at her house so long as we could celebrate Jake's birthday as well. Those darn December babies. :) I am so thankful she lets us use her house. There is NO way everyone would fit in our little house...unless it was in our ginormous bedroom. :) We didn't really have a "theme" but we did have a few Mickey/Minnie things around. Emerson is really into Mickey & Minnie. Too bad she didn't feel that way five months ago when we were in Disneyland. I digress. On to the pictures.

Madison totally rocked Jacob's Mario cake. Didn't she do an awesome job?!
My sister has amazing luck with party day weather. It was beautiful and warm enough that the kids played outside for a bit. Emmie & her friend Caleb enjoying some licorice. Caleb's brother Jacob is in Hannah's class. Hannah was SO excited for Jacob to be there.Grandma Judy wanted a picture with the girls. Do you like Emmie's new smile? Yes, that's a smile. Can't forget Grandpa Kevin...his birthday was on Sunday. Emerson loved all of her new presents.Did I say presents? I meant noise makers.
Before we could have cake and ice cream Caleb, Jacob and their mom JJ had to leave. I had to get pictures of the kids before they headed out. Aren't they so cute. Emmie and Caleb's picture makes me laugh. You'd have thought there was something sinister behind me. :) We finally got around to singing to the birthday boy and girl. And, once all the guests had left, Emerson did what we all felt like doing.
For not having a nap all day our little birthday girl did wonderfully. Happy Birthday Jacob and Emerson!
As I'm looking back at my pictures, you never would have guessed that Jacob shared the party. Sorry for the lack of pictures Jacob. I'll make it up to you next year. :)

Crazy hair

Friday was crazy hair day at Hannah's school. As I was doing her hair she was super excited, but when she took a look at it, she started doubting her decision to participate. I assured her that lots of kids would have crazy hair and she reluctantly said OK. :) I wish I had taken a picture of her class because most of them had wild and crazy hair. Her teacher was a sight. He seriously cracks me up. He came in a "rocker" type wig, long black hair with silver streaks. He said to us moms "if you wondered what I looked like in the 60's, here you go - the best part is that my bell bottoms still fit too!" He was wearing a pair of awesome looking bell bottoms. Oh, he makes me laugh!!
Hannah insisted on 3 pony tails. One on top and two on the sides.
Hannah was so sweet, a couple of little girls in her class forgot so she took out two of her neon hair strands (thank you Nonnie for letting her use those) and shared them. She didn't want anyone to feel left out. Such a sweetie!

Trouble

The next time you see me, if I have a full head of grey hair or if my hair has completely fallen out, it's because of this girl. She's cute but boy is she trouble.

Last week she got into the butter and smeared it all over the stove. We now know that if we haven't heard her in a few seconds, to go looking for her.

Over the weekend while we were watching the Henry kids, she stuck a Nerd up her nose. She cried. The crying "washed" it out. Thank goodness.

And today, today, she fell out of the grocery cart at Target. I told her to sit down and she did. Once she was seated, I turned around put a bag in the trunk, turned right back around to see her go over the side of the cart. Yes, I'm THAT mom. She's an amazing little girl...she landed on her feet. How she did that I have NO idea. She is truly a remarkable little girl. As I've said before....she's trouble. T.R.O.U.B.L.E!

I think we'll be leaving the helmet on for a while.
