Seal Rock

After the wedding we quickly went back to the hotel, changed, got the girls ice cream and then headed out to Seal Beach.  It was a beautiful night and I’m so glad we went back out rather than staying at the hotel and swimming.  Although, the girls might argue with me on that one, it was just too nice to not be at the beach.

Robin can’t do dairy so no ice cream for her, but she found an oatmeal raisin cookie that made her happy.  They call it Seal Rock, but we didn’t see any seals. ;)When I tell you that my girls love Robin & Kenny’s boys, it’s no joke.  They are so good with them.  After looking at this picture while I’ve been typing it kind of looks like Kenny’s head is just floating there. hee hee… Sunday morning we woke up to clouds but considering we’d be in the car all day, I didn’t really mind.  This was the view from our room.After a big breakfast in Newport we hit the road.  I had Tom stop and get a map so Hannah could see our progress as we drove.  She’s a map girl!I can’t remember now why Emerson was in a mood, but she wasn’t having anything to do with the rest of us!But, she’s my girl and there isn’t anything a little coffee can’t fix. :)The only reason for us driving back up 101 to get home was so we could take the girls through the Tillamook Cheese factory.  We love Tillamook at our house so we thought for sure it would be a hit.  It was.  :)The cheese sample line.  Squeeky cheese…not a hit with the Walkers.The observation deck…The baby loaf.After we left Tillamook we continued up 101 and stopped at Canon Beach for an early dinner.  We were excited to see that there was a Mo’s in town.  We love Mo’s. :)We sat outside and soaked up the sun until the fog rolled in. It rolled in pretty quick.Oh my yumminess.  So good!By the time we left, this is what it looked like. What a difference 30 minutes makes.Mt. St. Helens off in the distance.

It was a long drive home.  Including our stops it took us 14 hours to get home.  The girls did remarkably well considering the amount of time we spent sitting in the car. It was a wonderful weekend and I’m so glad we made the trip.

The Wedding

Feliza and Pedro’s wedding was in Siletz, a little town just east of Newport.  The wedding was only 20 miles from our hotel but with traffic along 101 it took us 45 minutes to get there.  It was just enough time for Emerson to sneak in a little nap.

Hannah was looking cute in the backseat with her pretty dress and super cool sunglasses! Now if we can get her trained to uncross her arms, we’d be set.When we walked around the house and I saw the beautiful view I knew I was in love.  I have lots of places I’d like to move, and this is one of them. :)Oh that view!Feliza was one of the most beautiful brides I’ve seen and her dress was stunning!The owner of the house was the one who married them…Pedro is his landscaper.  It was a beautiful wedding.  My eyes were leaking on more than one occasion.  :) Weddings and I have a love/hate relationship. :)It was a beautiful day and unfortunately the yard didn’t have many options for shade.  We all sort of congregated under a big tree.  Emerson thought she’d take Nana for a ride. As we were in line for food, we noticed that just off the main patio was a bed…outside.  Loved the idea of having a bed outside, you know, if I could sleep and not worry about bugs.   How peaceful to fall asleep with the river just off to your side. Hannah & Skye.  I knew these two would hit it off.  I’ve only seen pictures of her on Facebook, but I knew they would be fast friends.  Sure enough, once they warmed up to each other they were inseparable.  :) Bubbles…always a big hit at weddings. During the wedding & reception we saw people floating the river on inner tubes and even a few people fishing down the river. At one point we even considered going in, it was warm and that water was inviting!I loved this wedding.  The colors were gorgeous the location was amazing!We couldn’t leave until the cake was brought out.  Boy was that yummy cake.  Emerson had a few pieces thanks to Aunt Robin. :)Mmm mm good!

Unfortunately for me, we left before the dancing started.  We wanted to get back to the hotel and get to the beach one more time while the sun was still shining. We had a long drive ahead of us the next day and I knew Tom wouldn’t want to stop and let us play.

Oregon coast road trip…

I have over 150 pictures from our little weekend.  I won’t bore you with all of them but I will bore you with lots of them, but, I’ll break it up for y’all cause I’m nice that way.  :)

We started out on Friday around 11:30.  The girls and I went with Tom to Issaquah where he had to meet with a client before heading out.  We shopped at Target and went to a park while he was busy working away at Starbucks. :)  When we told Caryl that we’d go to Feliza and Pedro’s wedding Tom and I both had it in our minds that it was a 4 hour trip, 5 tops to Newport.  A week before the wedding we decided to map it and found out that it was 6.5 hours.  6.5 hours.  Yowza! Not that we wouldn’t have gone it was just a little longer than we had expected.  We wouldn’t have missed the wedding for anything!  :)

We stopped in Centralia for a little lunch and to pull the camera out of the trunk.  I think I have Grace to thank for the “thumbs up” pose.  :)I started coloring my own license plate map on this trip.We met up with Kenny, Robin and the boys for dinner in Corvallis.  We ate at a super yummy pizza place too bad it took FOREVER for our food to arrive.  So much for a quick stop on the way.

We had hoped to arrive in Waldport in time for a birthday party for Caryl’s brother Harold.  We didn’t quite make it so we just drove to the hotel and got checked in.  By the time it we were in our room it was 9:15.  Oye!

Saturday morning we were up and out of our room by 8:30.  The lady at the coffee stand recommended a beach just down 101.  We headed there for a little beach fun before the wedding.  There is just something about the Oregon coast.  I’m afraid I think I love it more than the Washington coast. We met up with the Willms family on the beach and decided to drive a little farther south to Yachats where we could explore tide pools. Tom loves tide pools.  I am so glad we went.  Wow, what a beautiful spot!Emmie loved all the starfish.And purple shells.A blurry picture but I love it.  Hannah loves these girls.  Jenna on the left, Brittany on the right.Love these next two shots… la de da…Yachats.
